Conditional Formatting - base colour change on previous cell

I've attached a sample spread sheet.

What i'm trying to do is the following

    1) Base the formatting on the previous cell / days number - I've dates across the top
    2) If the results/numbers are the same / no change, background colour will be yellow
    3) if todays results is lower then previous day it will be green
    4) if it's higher by 1-9 it will be ornage
    5) if it's 10+ it will be red.

If i knew how to target the previous cell I think i could figure this out. The previous cell will change everyday.

    Any help would be great
    thanks.

    Something like this?

I've assumed no formatting on the first day as no previous record to compare.

It is a relative check on an absolute range that will always look at the cell immediately to the left, nowhere else.

    Not a clue, I don't use it.

If you need a solution for something other than excel then it would be a good idea to state this in your original question to avoid unsuitable answers.

    I need it for both.

It's a different report stored on Google Sheets for employees in different countries. So i still needed it for Excel.

    thanks.

Re: Conditional Formatting - base colour change on previous cell

There is a subforum here for google docs, might be worth asking the same question there with a link back to this thread.

As one thread will be for excel and the other for google docs, I don't think it will count as a duplicate thread. If anyone says that it is, point them to this post.
