    Question Search words

    Hello all,

I am not really used to using Excel alot and last weeks i tried to make something but ran into some problems. I am trying to make a text box that if it contains certain words the text box under it should turn red indicating that it wants extra information. Once the extra section is filled in it should turn normal again. I did manage to make it so it sees the words but once you add another word or make a scentence it doesnt work anymore.

I am hoping some of you could help me here.

I did make a quik example, but sadly i cant post links yet

Maybe not. But you can post the sheet directly here.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment. So, to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    Please attach your workbook HERE.

To attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Some members are reluctant to access file-sharing sites. and as we have an attachment facility here, there really is no need anyway.

I see no manually mocked up example of what you are asking for, just empty boxes. You are going to need to give us more help in the workbook - you need to SHOW what you want.

    Re: Search words

That is the thing, I dont know how to make it. (the half working example is on a different pc which i dont have acces to at the moment)

    Ill try to explain.

There is 2 Boxes If box number 1 contains any of the words defined as Words_List it should change the color of Box number 2 to red wich indicates it wants more information. Once box number 2 is filled in with any text it should apear normal agian if this makes scense.

So you typ a story into box 1 and excel then needs to check if it contains any of the words in that list. So for example the word 'Man'then Box 2(Cell under the story) becomes red. this is then where i fill in the information of the man such as name, age, etc.

Yes, but you can mock up an example manually of what you are looking for, can't you? We are not asking you to solve it yourself!

    Re: Search words

Use this as the CF formula:

    =AND(SUMPRODUCT(--(NOT(ISERR(SEARCH(" "&Word_List&" "," "&N21&" ")))))>0,N23="")

it will ignore words like mannerism and fireman.
