Vlookup that will then find another range

Hi I am looking to do a possible VLookup but then in the same formula i need to only pick up certain values
for example in the Lorry Driver Labour below i would like to on one spreadsheet only pull out the 493 section and then on a totally different spreadsheet would like to pull our both the 560 & 595

    6001 - Lorry Driver Labour
    000 - Default
    493 - Drivers Wages - Salvage
    560 - Volumetric Department
    595 - Drivers Wages

    Is this possible?

    many thanks

    Welcome to the forum!

Yes, it's possible. Are you able to attach a sample workbook, please?

Impossible to tell from your description...

Will you please attach a SMALL sample Excel workbook (10-20 rows of data is usually enough)? However, please give us an indication of the approximate number of rows of data you want the solution to work with (100, 1000, 100,000 or whatever). Please don't attach a picture of an Excel sheet (no-one will want to re-type all your stuff before starting).

    1. Make sure that your sample data are truly REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential information is removed first!!

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells. They cause lots of problems!

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment. So, to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

I am sorry - I wasn't clear in my instructions. Please manually mock up the worksheets that you wish to create from this data. Thanks!

Re: Vlookup that will then find another range

    Hi, to all!

Check this formula referencing codes 560 and 595:
    =SUMPRODUCT((LOOKUP(ROW(Data!A$1:A$29),ROW(Data!A$1:A$29)/(--LEFT(Data!A$1:A$29,5)>0),LEFT(Data!A$1:A$29,4))=LEFT(A2,4))*(LEFT(Data!A$1:A$29,3)={"560","595"})*Data!$B$1:$B$29)

    Check file. Blessings!

    Hi
Thank you for coming back with a formula, this looks very complicated and i'm not sure that i would remember this again in a years time.
Sage will produce a year on year report but will not narrow down into the separate departments which unfortunately for us we use this as a vital part of our company
