    Extracting Data in Rows

I have a huge spreadsheet of about 10,000 rows; basically, it is physical/chemical data gathered from groundwater. I am looking for certain elements found in the data (Arsenic, lead, uranium, etc.). I have searched the spreadsheet and highlighted the elements that I am looking for, and I need to extract the entire row and put it onto another spreadsheet. For example, if there is some Arsenic on row 1723, I need to copy that whole row 1723 and paste it onto another page. Is there a way that I can do that for multiple elements/rows at a time? Is there a way that I can search for a criteria and extract all of the rows that contain that criteria?

    Thanks,
    Peter

I'm sure there is, can you attach some sample data showing what you are trying to achieve?

Go Advanced -> Manage Attachments -> Upload

    Re: Extracting Data in Rows

Depends what the data looks like. Are the elements single words in specific columns? Or, maybe worst case, multiple elements in random columns.

If, for example, arsenic always appears in column C, you could use AutoFilter to highlight the rows, select the visible rows, and copy them elsewhere.

If arsenic can be in multiple columns, you could use COUNTIF in a Helper column and then filter on the Helper column.

It could be simple, or very complex, depending on the data layout.

Attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

Nobody is going to E-mail you privately - sorry. All discussions and sharing of workbooks need to remain here and in public, which is in the spirit of these forums.

It is not at all clear what you want, anyway, and it does look rather as if you are trying to hijack this thread - this is not allowed, either.

I suggest you take a moment to read our forum rules (link up top) before posting again.

    Good - thanks.

Please don't quote whole posts, especially when you are responding to the one immediately preceding your own - it's just clutter. It's OK to quote if you are responding to a post out of sequence, but limit quoted content to a few relevant lines that makes clear to whom and what you are responding. Thanks!
