    Better syntax to shorthen an extremely long Sum function

    Hi, so not had much response to my other post but I just need help shortening this formula for a more practical way.

    That image is awful hard to read, especially on old eyes. It would help to add a workbook, but it appears you are trying to sum across worksheets. Is that right?

    Maybe try...

    =SUM('01.10.2018:31.10.2018'!H25)

    Agreed, that looks like it could be replaced with a proper 3D reference (see the section "using references in formulas" here: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...es_in_formulas ).

    It also looks like each tab represents a different day, and you are trying to get a monthly total. If that is the case, you might review the information here: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-new...ta-layout.html In the long run, you might be better served to maintain a single database with all of the information and use pivot tables and other database tools to retrieve summaries from the single source database.
