    Vlookup type formula help

    Hello,

    I have workbook with 2 sheets
    Sheet1 = Results
    Col1 = ID
    Col2 = Result_Record Datetime
    Col3 = Result

    Sheet2 = Goals
    Col1 = ID
    Col2 = GoalSet Datetime
    Col3 = Goal

    For each row in the Results sheet, I need to lookup the ID in the GOAL sheet and find the goal that was set prior to the result record datetime
    I single ID may have several recorded Goals - I just need the one that was set right before the results

    I appreciate any guidance
    Thanks
    Steve

    Dafella,

    From your Worksheet:

    ID Z114180022376 has 7 results, but only 1 goal set.
    Goal set is march 3, 1;56 pm

    What results do you expect in goal column in results sheet for records on march 28 and 30? and what about those on 29 where the goal set is after the result, as 12 am(0 hours), 8 am and 12 pm (noon)?

    Please fill manually the results needed.

    Also, there are a lot of IDs (636) in results with no set goals.

    Re: Vlookup type formula help

    I've manually completed a few

    The ID starting at Row 6476 Z114182594701 is a perfect example of the decision making I need the formula to make.

    Thanks again for looking at this

    If you only have Excel 2007, as your user info displays, you need to use an array formula (CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER) and copy down:

    Formula: copy to clipboard
