Hi all
I am trying to sum cells D9:E10 in the first cell and then D17:E18 in cell 2. Excel does not drag down this formula as expected. I want to skip the 6 rows in between entirely.
Thanks in advance.

With your data starting in R2, use this, copied down...
=SUM(OFFSET($R$2,ROW()*6-6,0,6,1))
Adjust $R$2 to where your data starts.
Welkom aan die vorum, Luqs

1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Please remember that those who help here do so voluntarily and of their own goodwill. They live in many different time zones and many will be out at work right now if they are not asleep on the other side of the globe. This is not a paid 'service': members will help when they are ready and able to do so, and not 'on demand'. Please do not try to put pressure of time on anyone here: if you get the help you need today, that's fine, but you really should not count on it. Thanks for your understanding and patience.
I have closed your duplicate thread and removed the URGENT tag from the thread title - your query will be dealt with in the same time frame as anyone else's, for the reasons stated above. Please do not use the URGENT tag again in thread titles. Thanks.

How about trying to adapt the answer you received to an almost identical query here: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-for...ry-4-rows.html
hmmm does indeed seem to be the same question, just with differing ranges?
Yes Fdibbins!! I cannot seem to adapt it to the different range
I cannnot seem to get it to work. does my data start at D9?
How would we know?
Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.
1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.
2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).
3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).
4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.
Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.
Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.
Try this .
Use Formula in the cell, then drag down.
If you want to change the range change $D$9:$E$10 in the formula.
=SUM(OFFSET($D$9:$E$10,8*(ROWS($1:1)-1),))
Pl note
Array formula should be confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter keys together.
If answere is satisfactory press * to add reputation.
I cannot find the instructions at the top of the page under manage attachments??
Oh.........
Let me know if you dont understand the file
Luqs - please read post #3 again and confirm that you understand it. I am not sure you do, given the lack of patience you are exhibiting. Helpers will respond when they are ready to do so. We are not at your beck and call.
I understand that hepers will respond when they have the time. I did not pressure anyone into giving me an answer immediately. Don't come at me for no reason.
That is why I removed the word URGENT from your thread title and the duplicate thread - these were pressing helpers for an immediate response. Please now wait patiently. Thank you for your co-operation
You asked the same question here: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-for...ry-4-rows.html
You say you were unable to adapt the formula for the new conditions. What did you try that did not work?
One way:
=SUM(OFFSET(Sheet2!$D$9,8*(ROWS($1:1)-1),,2,2))
