Counting ONLY consecutive days worked starting from a user defined date

    Hello!

So to begin with, another thread titled "COUNTIF anumber of entries in a date range 14-30 days before TODAY?" helped a little, but only with one side of the issue: (Sorry, since this is my first post, no helpful links or images are allowed)

Here is a quick rundown of what I'm trying to do, again I am unable to upload an image, my apologies:

    Column A1:A13..............Column B1:B13.............Column C1:C13...........Column D1:D13
    DATES...........................START TIME.....................END TIME.................HOURS WORKED( From Columns B and C)

----------------------------------------------------C18 - Date that can be changed per user
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------D18 = Data user wants

in D18 I can input this formula:

which works great for counting consecutive days worked (after a day off (0)) up until and including the date on D12.

But D12 isn't the date I want to use, I want the user to be able to specify the date in C18 and then use THAT date to decided where to start the calculation. I can do that with another IF statement below, but I can't nest it into this particular statement or can I?

I can specify a date with this type of formula, but I can't seem to count ONLY consecutive days worked during the set time frame.

Is there a way to combine these formulas or do I need to come up with someone new?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Hi Tazdude24. Welcome to the forum.

Well you just did upload an image. What almost always helps is a sample Excel workbook upload.

If you tried to use the 'paperclip' icon that hasn't worked for some time now.

    Instead:

To attach a file to your post: (Please no pics or screenshots ... saves retyping data.),

be sure to desensitize the data
    • click “Go Advanced” (next to Post Quick Reply – bottom right),
    • scroll down until you see “Manage Attachments”, click that,
    • click “Browse”.
    • select your file(s)
    • click “Upload”
    • click “Close window”
    • click “Submit Reply”
The file name will appear at the bottom of your reply.

Thanks, I figured since I received the error message, the file image wouldn't actually show up, clearly I was wrong, lol.

I've followed your instructions and attached a sample file.

Update: I did do a work-around to my issue, but would still very much like to know if the nested-formula or another type of solution is available.

My work-around was to create a field on that same input tab that calculated the consecutive days worked.

Then on the Summary Tab, I just referenced THAT cell based on a chosen date. This works, sure, but I was hoping for a more direct approach.

    Thanks again!

I am not sure that I am interpreting your request correctly.

By my understanding I believe this does what you want. Array enter this formula. If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed from edit mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.
    Formula: copy to clipboard
