    Conditional Formatting

    Hello,

I'm trying to figure out a conditional formatting formula for: If the date in L4 is a Sunday, put "Sunday" in L5.

    Thanks!

    Re: Conditional Formatting

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. While that works in general, it does not work in my case as L5 is a drop-down box hence why I think CF is how I have to do it. I've attached a sanitized WB to work with. In this one, the CF I would need is If the date in J3 is a Sunday, put "Sunday" in E5.

    Re: Conditional Formatting

CF is only for display, not for change value in the cell.

You may set CF formula at E5 to =WEEKDAY(J3)=1
and set custom format ;;;\S\u\n\d\a\y to Display Sunday but Value still be what already in the cell.

You will need if or Vlookup formula at E5 for each value in your list.

    Re: Conditional Formatting

Ahh, thanks. I just used your formula to highlight the cell when the date is a Sunday so I don't forget to mark it properly. That will help.

    Thanks again!

    Re: Conditional Formatting

Happy to help but I still think this is not a good idea to work.
Someone may forget to select the list in E5 and as it will only show Sunday no matter what value is in the cell.

Is it better to set custom format at J3 to mmmm d ddd, yyyy ?

    Re: Conditional Formatting

I meant I'm going to make it highlight E5 when J3 is a Sunday so I know to change the rate. Maybe I'll even highlight the whole rate column so I HAVE to see it, then I'll layer the CF to remove the highlight when I put Sunday in E5.
