    table formula containing @ sign

I have a spreadsheet that contains tables, and within those tables are formulas.
sometimes the formulas are including an @ sign and I'm not sure what that means. Here would be some brief examples on how the formulas start
    Vlookup([@account],
    or
    If([@[account]]=

I realize [account] is referring to column within a table, but not sure what the @ sign does.
    thank you

Re: table formula containing @ sign

The @ sign refers to the one cell within that column.

The @ sign is there simply to show that what follows is a table field. # would indicate a column header.

Okay, so what happens if there isn't an @ sign in a table formula. example
    vlookup([@account],Dollars[[Account]:[Description]],2,false)

I'm assuming it's allowing the vlookup to look at the entire column range

Re: table formula containing @ sign

To clarify. At sign is connected to specific row. If you will input your formula to the same row where your data is you will have formula with at sign, but if you will input this formula to another row you will have A1 notation in the formula.

Yes, you're right. It's looking up a single value in an entire column.
