Count unique item numbers

Hello everyone, im very new to excel.
I want to create a function that registers the item number as the value of 1, and then it multiplies the number 1 with amount of pcs, so i can see how many of the different item numbers that have been sold this year. I cant really explain it in a different way, because im a totally noob to this program, and i just started in a new job and i need a system like this:D
So i was hoping some of you can take a look at this and maybe help me?

I am not actually selling PC, Macs or iPhones, its just an example

Try in J3 and fill down.

Edit I take your data to be all the same year. If they are mixed will need modified formula, and in that case an uploaded Excel file representative of what you are working with helps.


To attach a file to your post: (Please no pics or screenshots ... saves retyping data.),

be sure to desensitize the data

• click “Go Advanced” (next to Post Quick Reply – bottom right),
• scroll down until you see “Manage Attachments”, click that,
• click “Browse”.
• select your file(s)
• click “Upload”
• click “Close window”
• click “Submit Reply”

The file name will appear at the bottom of your reply.

Since the Item names have consistent Item numbers the simplest way with 1st / last of the year in H1:I1
