    Conditional formatting

If in cell 1A i have a number.
Is it possible using conditional formatting to do the following:
If 1A is blank then cells C2:X20 text will be red.
    I have tried and failed.

    Re: Conditional formatting

Select cells C2:X20 then click on Conditional Formatting | New Rule | Use a formula... , then put this formula in the dialogue box which pops up:

    =$A$1=""

Click on the Format button | Fill tab and choose your colour (red), then click OK twice to exit the dialogue box.

    Hope this helps.
