Formula Required to Display Max Value

    Hi Knowledgable peeps,

I am currently producing a flexi time sheet for my work.

Currently I have it set up but I need to factor in the following rules:

Colleagues may carry forward up to twelve hours credit and seven hours debit. No more than twelve hours may be credited – any remaining hours will be lost.

How i have it setup so far...

I have a running total that is cumualtive for the credit and debit hours.
This is worked out on the basis of a formula that looks at the total hours over/under the contracted per day hours - eg "if(a1>0...etc") - for credit hours and "if(a1<0..etc)" - for debit hours.

I now need to incorporate the above rules into this sheet somehow and this is where I am stuck.

    Thank you.

    BoB

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.
Click the * to say thanks.

    Hi
Attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

There's no signposting in your workbook. Care to tell us where we will find what we are looking for?

    thanks for your reply.

It is the debit (Column S) and credit (Column T) I believe that I need to incorporate the rule in to so that no more than 12 hours is ever carried forward.

    Thank you

Re: Formula Required to Display Max Value

Many thanks for taking the time to reply.

I have entered the second set of formulas that you kindly sent.
I have entered data to produce an excess of 12 hours over the contracted hours and the sheet is displaying a max of 4:48 and not counting past that for the credit hours.

    Thank you
