    Help on nesting logical function

    Doing a chapter 7 capstone e07m2art (1).xlsx

Question: make sure the valuable sheet is active and enter a nested logical function in the Comments column to display Highly Valuable if either condition is met:

Re: Help on nesting logical function

If this is homework, how do you benefit from someone on the forum answering the question for you?

As a hint, you will use OR for conditions 1 and 2 and you will use AND for the sub-conditions in condition 2.

Re: Help on nesting logical function

The title of this thread doesn't say "Hey! Give me the answer for this question." I wasn't looking for a straight answer, I was actually hoping to see if somebody on this forum was going to explain how to do it. I didn't post up all the questions from the capstone, it was just one question.

    Did my answer work?

32873 is the actual XL date for 12-31-1989

32873 is the actual XL date for 31/12/1989 OR 32873 days from 1/1/1900

And that is what you got ...

... you will use OR for conditions 1 and 2 and you will use AND for the sub-conditions in condition 2.

There again, you were given the answer, ahead of the hint, so I guess you'll just copy that out.

I hope you get good marks for your coursework ... and that you will be able to apply that knowledge effectively in the future

Re: Help on nesting logical function

Rather than using 32873, you could use:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    or

which makes it a little bit more obvious what the number relates to.

I guess I didn't know Chapter 7 Capstone was coursework....here in the Colonies Chapter 7 is a type of bankrupcy...If I had knows that it was coursework would've still helped but probably just given really good hints (I hope)....also, I wouldn't mind a rep star (*)...if you think I was helpful....

In cell M9, enter a database function to average the estimated values (Est. Value) of highly valuable pieces of artwork indicated in column J. Use the criteria in cells P2:P3 in your function.

Probably should quote the "hijacking" rule for this, but anyway...

What you need to understand about dates and times in excel is…

a date is just a number representing the number of days passed since 1/1/900...and then formatted in a way that we recognize as a date. So, for instance, today (Thu 28 Feb 2019) is actually 43524

Time is actually a decimal part of 1 (day), so 06:00 AM is 0.25, 12 noon is 0.5 and 18:00 (or 6 PM) is 0.75

32873 is how many days have passed since 1/1/1900 - which gets you to 12/31/1989

Who are "they" and why are they asking? And no, that is not correct. But to get a better answer, Unfortunately your post does not comply with Rule 4 of our Forum RULES. Do not post a question in the thread of another member -- start your own thread.

If you feel an existing thread is particularly relevant to your need, provide a link to the other thread in your new thread.

Old threads are often only monitored by the original participants. New threads not only open you up to all possible participants again, they typically get faster response, too.
