Hi,
I have a spreadsheet with data points at different depths. I want to create depth bins and average the data in these bins. Does anyone have a formula that will do this?
Thank you,
Lucy

The AVERAGEIFS() function should readily do this task: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...8-f7c5c3001690 It's not clear to me exactly what you are trying to average, but read through the help file and the example, then adapt to your spreadsheet. I would expect something like =AVERAGEIFS(average range, depth range, ">="&E2,depth range, "<"&E3). Pay careful attention to relative and absolute references, and you should be able to enter once then copy/fill down.

I think a Pivot Table is what you want. You use the second column as your rows but GROUP them by .5. Then use the Average of the first column in that group. See the attached for a check. No formulas needed if you use Pivot Tables.
bin_test Group PT Average.xlsx
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
