    Copy dates in a range: days off

    Hello :D

    I work in the administration of a volunteers organization. We help people in need, and are open twice a week, on Wednesday and on Saturday. I need to plan our volunteers for the year. For this, I want the names of the volunteers in rows (no problem of course), and the remaining Wednesdays and Saturdays for this year in columns, including their dates (please see attached screenshot).

    so in my Excel2010 sheet, I put the date of Wednesday March 20 in B2, and I put the date of Saturday, March 23, in C2. Then I select both cells, and drag them to the right through a number of columns, and:

    The date is off.

    (Please see attached picture).

    The next Wednesday is March 26, but it should be March 27. The next Saturday is March 29, but it should be March 30.

    What might be the problem here, and how do I fix this?

    I am on Office 2010, I use Windows 7, Time Zone set to UTC +1:00 Amsterdam, Berlin.

    Thank you in advance super very much for any help,

    Bye,

    Vince

    Use +7 from first date of each Wednesday and Saturday:
    D2 = B2+7
    E2 = C2+7

    Then select D1:E3 and drag it across horizontally.

    Actually just D2 = B2 + 7 then drag D2 horizontally is enough

    Except when and if you also want to populate row 1, your method will only populate the row with Wednesday(s).

    @lazyme: The OP had restricted the problem description to row-2 and I didn't look closely enough at the picture to see that he had day names in row-1. For testing purposes I had made the leap that row-2 would be formatted something like: ddd dd-mmm-yy so you would have: Wed 20-Mar-19 etc.

    How are you assuming row-1 is populated? I couldn't tell from the picture. If I just create text "Wednesday" and "Saturday" in D1:E1 then select D1:E3 (why row 3?) and drag horizontally then I erroneously get "Tuesday" in F1 and "Friday" in G1. To get it to work I needed to select D1:E3 and then copy / paste, not drag. What did you do to get dragging to work? The only way I could get dragging to the right to work was to format row-1 as "dddd" and then populate D1 with =D2, select D1:D2 and drag right. If, in addition, E1 is set to =E2 then your approach of dragging D1:E3 (or D1:E2) will also work just as well.
