Duplicate values conditional formatting/ Only text changes colour, not cell

When I select a column and apply the conditional formatting to it to find duplicate values, it only changes the text colour and not the cell. According to the settings I have chosen in the image below, the cell and the text should be changing colour.

How did you arrive at that screen? When I select CF/dup, I dont get the "values with..." option, I get the usual "FORMAT" box to click on
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

May be you are using two CFs in the cells and the preference of new one is lesser than that of previous.

First I selected the column I wanted to apply this to. Then I went Conditional Formatting>Highlight Cells Rules>Duplicate Values. Then that box popped up. This is how I've always done it and it's always worked fine until now.

Thanks for the response. No, I checked under Manage Rules and it was the only one.

Is it only this workbook where that occurs, or is it every workbook that you apply that type of conditional formatting? I have not managed to reproduce your results, so it's difficult to pinpoint what is occurring.

It appears to be only that workbook. Other workbooks seem to handle it normally.

If you could upload the workbook, cleansed of any sensitive data, it would be helpful. You can upload by clicking Go Advanced, then Manage Attachments. Click Browse to find your file, click Open, the click Upload. Your file will be included when you submit your response.

I tried doing that, but when I click on Attachments, a white rectangle box popped up underneath, but nothing to allow me to upload a file.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

aahh OK thanks for the update - I never use that method, I always go into CF/New Rule, and then take if from there. I actually have a button on my QAT to speed that up.

Also, thanks for the feedback

Please Check Custom Format for the Cell by pressing Cntr + 1 and see if there is a custom rule with something like this [black].

I have attached the file that is causing this. There doesn't appear to be any special formatting on the cells.

Re: Duplicate values conditional formatting/ Only text changes colour, not cell

It appears the cells have a white fill on them, which is overriding the conditional formatting for some reason. If you set the fill on them to No Fill, the conditional formatting works as intended.
