Hi Guys,
I have been scouring all over numerous help forums and tried many formulas.
I do not want to use a lookup formula.
I have a drop down list with 4 options (We will call these W, X, Y, Z). Depending on the option selected I want a neighbouring blank cell to auto populate a specific currency value depending on the text.
EXAMPLE
IF Cell D4 says "W". I want blank cell E5 to populate $500
IF Cell D4 says "X". I want blank cell E5 to populate $300

In E5:
=IF(D4="W",500,IF(D4="X",300))

Formulated cell remains unchanged.
Eg Dropdown list D4 selected “X” ; Cell E5 still blank.
Have removed dropdown feature from D4 and simply typed the word “X” and E5 cell remained unchanged. Have attempted E5 with only 1 formula option. Still does not work.
G5 has a true/false false colour formula depending on the selected D4 dropdown list option and B2 also has a true/false formula pending D4, these work fine. However I cannot seem to work out how to swap the blank cell with text depending on the text value of D4

I afraid LOOKUP does not work properly with unsort list.

If you need to sort the data, put the whole lot into a table. Is there anything else you failed to tell us at the outset that might be significant?

I do not need to sort the data. It is a workbook that will have 30 of these sheets. each sheet may have a different area selected depending on the request. I just thought it would be nice to have those options auto populate a neighbouring cell with the equivalent information. However the workbook needs to be simple to use. It looks as though it is not possible or too hard/complicated.

We're you able to get the answer to this? I am also looking to have a cell auto populate based on the value in another cell. If you have the formula, may you please share?
