Complex countifs

I have attached a worksheet and want to countif given a certain day and also if a data point has a particular character in a string

Not too complex if you use SUMPRODUCT - try this in cell G3:

=SUMPRODUCT(($A$2:$A$11=$F3)*(LEN($B$2:$B$11)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE($B$2:$B$11,G$2,""))))

then copy across and down to suit. I can only see two 3's in Mon values.

Hi Dave,

you will only find one occurrence of the same digit in any one value - change the value in B3 to 333, or in B6 to 2133 to see what I mean.
