locking specific cells ends up locking the whole sheet and I dont know why

frustrating, i`m locking just columns C to G.
but when I do so and protect the sheet, the whole sheet is locked.
This is not what normally happens. Normally I select the cells or columns to lock, right click cell formatting "protection" tab to tick Locked.
    then protect worksheet.
Then just those columns are locked.

But now the whole sheet is locking...

    i`ve attached it here..

Did you unlock the other cells, prior to protecting the sheet?

ah you are right!, that was it..

however now that it works, when I add new sales in column B. columns C to E are not updating...

I notice because the formulas arent in those lower cells in column C to E, however I named the column ranges, I thought naming the cell column range would continue the cell formulas down infinitely?

I was able to make the formulas continue down in another locked sheet by double clicking the lower right corner of the bottom cell in the column, but its not working here...

As long as (I think) 3 of the last 5 rows have the formula, then it will autofill the formula, but that doesn't work on locked cells.

    ok thanks!
I experimented, basically I find I have to drag down the formulas (way down) so that I can keep adding to the rows with new total sales figures.

but if anyone knows how to keep the column formula`s continuing down the page for revenue and comm20 above, even if they are locked columns that would rock!.

As an alternative with a small macro and a table. I also simplified the formulas.
