Vlookups when the Lists aren't Identical

    Hello,

Apologies if I've posted in the wrong thread - I think I've picked the correct one.

I'm currently working on a project where I need to compare lists of product names and then vlookup them so that I get their barcodes. The problem I've been having, however, is that a lot of companies like to rename our products - for example 'Vitamin C' is often chanced to 'Vit C'. Is there a way that I can still Vlookup (or whatever function it may be - or even macro) and match them to the correct barcode please?

    Many thanks for your help.

Can you provide some sample data and what the expected outcome is?

I can't send the real documents because I'll get sacked - but it's along these lines - the products are identical and have the same barcode they merely differ in what company 1 has described them as.
Thus I'm attempting to Vlookup to find the correct barcode but it doesn't work because the two descriptions differ - and there's 400 odd rows of this so doing it manually would be far from efficient. Thanks.

    Please attach your sample workbook.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

I think you may need to have a look at the Fuzzy Lookup add-in: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/down....aspx?id=15011
