    Display adjoining cells value, when specific text inputter, in another cell.. :/

    Xcel Question.png

    Hi All,

    Long time listener first time caller here!

    This is purely to speed things up for me at work and I am hoping its an easy one for you all.
    I fill in a time sheet with my hours in a day just to keep track of them myself.

    I log my lunch break by simply putting an "L" in the cell next to the time it matches.

    I was hoping to be able to have another cell automatically input what time that was

    So:

    A1 = 12:00 - 12:30
    B1 = Typed "L"

    C1 = would automatically pick up that I have typed L and grab the data from the adjoining cell (the picture attached paints a better view)

    I have a range of times so Lunch ("L") could be anywhere in the day.

    Cheers !

    James

    So what exactly do you want to appear next to the L? What value?

    I dont want anything next to the L, On the image above at the bottom where it says lunch, the empty cell next to that would need to say 1200 - 12:30 as I have typed L next to thayt time slot.

    So, wherever I type the letter L
    it would then get the info from the cell next door and display it in the "lunch" cell at the bottom.

    Sorry if the explanation is going around in cirlces.

    Cheers

    OK. So simple INDEX MATCH, then:

    =INDEX(A:A,MATCH("L",B:B,0))
