IF Formula confusion!

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me.

I have created a spreadsheet to help with ticket sales. I have got everything working almost, but I want the spreadsheet to count tickets on reserve, and tickets that have actually been sold.

I have this formula .. =IF(G10:G100 = "Sold", 350-C10:C100, 350-0)

I want it to say that if the ticket says sold next to it then it can take the amount of tickets away from 350 (that's how many tickets I have to sell). But, if it says still reserved, I want it to do nothing, as I already have a calculator for that.

The formula works if I just use =IF(G10 = "Sold", 350-C10, 350-0), but I want it to take the whole of the column, not just C10. I don't know how to give a range?

Post a sample spreadsheet with expected results, remove any sensitive data, create a mockup example if necessary.

Hi Liz,

It would be useful to have a sample of what you are trying to do, but based on the information supplied you may find using a different function may help.

If you use COUNTIF or Countifs depending on your version, it will allow you to count the number of "Sold" in the range and that range could be the whole set of tickets.
