Conditional format cell based on another... then cancel ??

    Need some help please.

If I put any value in one cell say A1 (numbers or letters) I want the next cell across to highlight A2.
If I then put any value in this second cell A2, I want to remove the highlighted colour. In efect cancelling the conditional format.

I can do the basic conditional formatting for certain words or numbers but I'm struggling for any value.

Basically I want to use this as a reminder ' you've missed the value out in the cell highlighted' and it to clear when a value (any) is put in.

    Cheers,
    Paul

    Welcome to the forum.

Maybe a formula rule like this for A2?

    =AND(A1<>"",A2="")
