Creating new pivot table on O365 online does not work

Excel crashes, using local Excel (Office 2016)

It will produce a blank pivot field on the desired sheet. Then crashes as you try to populate and drag items on the fields. True on both dragging over the sheet itself, and dragging over Edit Pivot window.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Sorry Ali. I thought I was posting on independent forums. This is a a little job related and as an IT I spend less time on Excel than I should.

    Attach your workbook.

Re: Creating new pivot table on O365 online does not work

I have attached the Workbook Olly. Thank you so much for your response.

The problem differs working online and offline.

Online, the pivot command just doesn't work at all.

Offline, Excel crashes. Previously it was saved as .xlb and then .xlsx. When you create the pivot table, only white blank spaces appear on the sheet you would deploy it to. Then while you are working on the details of the table, Excel crashes.
When you convert to .xls, it does not crash but leaves out the formulas.

Does it have anything to do with the dependencies? I deleted some sheets that have confidential data.

The primary action my client was doing, was:

Going to the "PIVOT sheet"c clicking Insert ---> "Pivot Table", then going to "SUMMARY GOODS", highlighting all, then trying to define what data goes to what part of the table.

The client would be stuck and Excel would crash on some files formats
converting to another file format, it doesn't, but data is missing.

Thank you in advance for your input, Olly.

Re: Creating new pivot table on O365 online does not work

Why is the file saved in 97-2003 .xls format?

Sheet SUMMARY GOODS is full of #REF! errors - I'm guessing from the sheets you deleted. That's really not helping to debug...

When you say "highlighting all" data in SUMMARY GOODS - what precise range are you trying? That data isn't formatted nicely as a source for pivoting - there are blank column headers, which will cause an error.

If I enter something in column headers for columns AS, AW, AZ, BC and BF, then use range 'SUMMARY GOODS'!$A$4:$BP$145 as the pivot data source, I can create a functional pivot table, with no errors or issues.

Of course, it's really hard to test the data content, due to all the ref errors, as mentioned above...
