Sumif - give Range using a cell reference

Hi,

I'm trying to build a sumif formula where the various arguments are listed in cells so it's easy to change one aspect of the formula without going into it. e.g., Cell A1 would contain the Range, B1 would contain the Criteria and C1 would contain the Sum Range. Then the sumif formula would be =SUMIF(A1,B1,C1)

This doesn't seem to work, particularly as the Range and Sum Range are referring to another tab - e.g., cell A1 currently has 'Tab 2'!$C:$C.

Criteria is not a problem - that works fine as a cell reference within the sumif formula.

Can anyone help?
