lookup logic to interrogate specific exceptions

I need to create a formula in Sheet1 that flags Column D with a 'Y' or 'N' based on the following rules:

In Sheet1, for most of the data, this will satisfy: If Column A = Column A (Sheet 2), then Flag Column D with a 'Y' (else 'N').

However, there are some exceptions/instances where I need to review other columns along with Column A.

I attached a sample of this.

    thank you!

Would that work if the lookup (Sheet2) has more than value in each column?

Does the '&' in the formula imply that all 3 values must be met for the 'Y' flag?

I think that's why I'm not matching anyone in my data.

    Let me try to clarify.

Column A has to match for any chance of 'Y'. If there are no other values in the same column after Column A matches, it's a 'Y' flag. By this, if Column B and C are blank, then the value should be "Y".

If there are additional fields that are present in Column B or C, they also have to match to have a 'Y' flag.
Most of the time, Column A will be the only/primary match, but there will be instances where Column B or Column C are also needed to match because they have data present.

The formula I supplied works on your sample file. If it's not working in your real file, can you please supply a new workbook with more realistic data.
