How to use Conditional Formatting, to find and highlight specific data

    Hello,

Please see attached excel example of what I am trying to achieve (this is just a basic version of the official spreadsheet).

What I am looking to achieve is, within the 'Player and Teams' table, each player can select random teams and these are placed under their name.

Scores are then inserted into the following rounds.

As the rounds are played, each team that gets knocked out of the tournament they need to be highlighted with conditional formatting in the 'Player and Teams' table.

Please dont hesitate to ask questions if you need clarity; unsure if I am approaching this the correct way. Any suggestions would be appriciated.

Re: How to use a VLOOKUP within Conditional Formatting, to find and highlight specific dat

Almost - the thing is you are making an assumption about VLOOKUP, which may not be required here at all. Better to DESCRIBE what you are trying to achieve, not how you think it should be done.

Re: How to use Conditional Formatting, to find and highlight specific data

The way I would tackle this is to produce a list somewhere of the losing teams as they are knocked out and then use this for the CF rule - is it OK to have a helper list somewhere (could be hidden)?

You could put this formula in F4

    & similar for cols L,R & X & use
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Thank you Fluff13, that works as expected, will look to transfer this to the official spreadsheet.
