Drop Down lists start position

I am using a list of dates in a drop down list. Each time I select the drop down it goes to the head of the list and I have to scroll down forever to find the correct date. Can you make the drop down list start with today's date when selected to prevent the time consuming scrolling?

Why don't you just generate the list beginning at today's date?
This assumes you don't want dates in the past.
