Conditional formatting of a row based on a date entered

    good day to all.

i am trying to write a formula and not doing so well.
i have a chart that is a sample log and would like the ROW to be greyed out once the line item is completed, which is accomplished by entering a date in column N.

so, if the cell is BLANK, no formatting needed but once a date is entered in column "N", then that row should be greyed out.

can someone walk me thru the steps to make this work pls?

    thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.

    With A2 selected:

    =$N2<>""

Use the Applies to box to select the range (e.g. $A$2:$Z$100).

thanks so much, Ali but this greyed out only the N2 cell; not the row.

Select the entire range you want to highlight (lets say starting at N2:Z100 - adjust the range as necessary)

    Conditional Formatting
    New Rule
    Use a formula to determine...

    =$N2<>""

    Format as required

If you’d followed the instructions at the end regarding the Applies to box, it would have worked.

If you find it easier Special-K’s way, do it that way.
