Function to calculate gross income required to afford mortgage payment

Through trial and error I figured out a formula that works.
=(monthly housing costs*12)*(1/32%)

I spent several hours googling and using the "trial & error" method to come up with a formula.
In pure frustration I posted this thread asking for help.
After posting this thread, I gave it one more shot and I stumbled upon the above formula.

There's probably a more elegant formula or function, but it seems to work.

If anyone has a better solution, I'd still be happy to see it.

I just tried this. It also works.

Now I feel very embarrassed at how easy this solution was.
