Automatically populating a Monthly calendar with another Data Table (start & finish date)

    Hi All,

The Company I work for does projects all over the world and my boss has asked me to have a spreadsheet to track the travel of everybody. Now he's asking me to add a calendar too so he can easily locate where everyone is in case they're needed elsewhere. Since it's not something that's always set in stone in the future, I have created a somewhat automatic calendar, but I am looking for a way to automatically populate with the country or at least highlight the date whenever someone is travelling from my data sheet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was trying to upload my file but I can't since this is my first time posting so I will try and describe them as much as I can:

    Travel data sheet:
    (starting on A1)
I have in this sheet from Columns A thru H the following

    A- Program (name)
    B- Project (name)
    C - Location (Country)
D - Travel Start Date (date)
E - Travel End Date (date)
F - Total Days (formula calculating amount of days between both dates
G - Trip Purpose (Title of trip)
    H - Traveler (Employee Name)

Whenever there is more than one traveler on the trip, the trip is duplicated on a another row with the other name

    Calendar Sheet--

I have in this sheet from Columns A thru AF the following
    (starting on Cell A7)

A - Traveler (list of travelers the company has)
B - Job title (VLOOKUP from another sheet)
C thru AF - Calendar by days (01/01/2019, 01/02/2019 etc...)

    thank you in advance!

    Welcome to the forum.

Will you please attach a small sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

I was trying to upload my file but I can't since this is my first time posting
    Yes, you can.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment (it hasn't worked for years, and despite our repeatedly asking the technical team who own the forum to fix it, they can't be bothered to do so), so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Hello, Ali

Thank you for your reply and your help. I feel a bit dumb for not figuring that out by myself lol.

I've attached the an example of my file with employee's 1 & 2 with dates highlighted manually to show what I am trying to display.

    Thank you for your help!
