A COUNTIF question with hidden columns AND using indirect references

I have a spreadsheet (see image below) that has multiple tabs and where 1 tab (the Summary tab) counts specific text found on the the other tabs. The summary tab has references to the other tabs (column C) and specific columns to be searched (column B). Any/all of those referenced columns could be hidden and, if they are hidden, I do not what them to be included in the counts on the Summary tab in cells E2:I4. The text that I am searching for on the other tabs is located on the Summary tab row 1, columns E:H. The formulas that I need assistance with are in cells E2:I4. I appreciate any help you can provide and thanks in advance!!

The formula in cell E2 is: =SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF(INDIRECT($C2),E$1))

Re: A COUNTIF question with hidden columns AND using indirect references

Hi and welcome to the forum

Please upload a workbook or a representative cut down copy, anonymised if necessary. It is always easier to advise if we can see your request in its context. Pictures are rarely much use and nobody wants to spend time recreating your workbook.

Show a before and after situation with manually calculated results, explaining which information is data and which is results, and if it's not blindingly obvious how you have arrived at your results some explanatory notes as well.

To upload a file click the Go Advanced button at the foot of your post, look underneath the post area for the Manage Attachments section and take it from there.
