    SUMIFS Formula Issue

    Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am trying to use a SUMIFS formula to calculate the number of hours an employee worked on specific jobs within a billing period and I keep getting a result of zero. Not sure if the problem is with the way the data is setup or the formula which is in cell J5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Sam

    Re: SUMIFS Formula Issue

    Welcome to the forum!

There is nothing to sum in column H where there is a date in column B. You haven’t understood the way SUMIFS works, so it’s the formula mainly, but the layout is going to make it tricky, too.

    Re: SUMIFS Formula Issue

If you can live with a helper column, say column M, use this formula to replicate respective dates whenever there is a job number in column A:

    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

Copy down as far as necessary.

Then your SUMIFS will work better with something like this:

    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

    Copy down.

    Good luck!
