I need help with vacation accrual

I am trying to make a spreadsheet that calculates vacation accrual by hire date and length of service. The idea was to make my life a little easier. So far it has not. I would appreciate any help I can get solving this one. It is way outside of my skillset.

OMG! That works! I have been trying to get that for a week! I could make it calculate from the start date, but couldn't figure out the date ranges. You are amazing. Thank you so much!

Re: I need help with vacation accrual

It was solved.... almost. I noticed while entering start dates that an employee's accrual didn't add up if their start date was beyond the current date. I changed the original spreadsheet for clarity as to what I need. I made a few attempt to fix it. I could get it to work one date range, but not all date ranges. Basically I made it work less. I have reverted back to the formula 63falcondude posted above (much thanks for that).

According to your 3rd sentence in cell F29, I would assume that (as of today, 10/17/2019) 10/18/2017 should be 40 and 10/17/2017 should be 48.
Then once tomorrow comes, they should both be 48.
    Is this correct?

That goes against the first two sentences in cell F29 saying that they should be equal.

Given the assumptions in post #6 are true, try this in E16:

This generates 80 hours for any date input. The formula only needs to calculate the number of hours the employee gets for the entire year. That number will drive another page that will calculate when the leave can be used, what has been used, etc.

This isn't true. The formula adds the base hours with the additional hours and produces the total hours based on today's date and start date.

I have put the formula from post #7 into the workbook from post #5 and have uploaded it here.

If the results of this formula are not what you are looking for, manually type in what the desired results are and re-upload the sample.

It looks like that got it. I must have done something wrong when I input the formula. Thanks much!
