    Automatically update filter

    Hello,

I have a spreadsheet that has source data on it, i want to copy only the rows that have text onto a worksheet that i'm using as part of electronic signage. what i want to do is copy the data from the source data, paste it into the new sheet, and make sure if it's blank then it shows blank and not 0. However as there's many categories, i want it to hide any rows that if there's no data in column A then it hides the entire row, but also refreshes the signage worksheet when data is input into the signage sheet. The reason we are attempting this is to make the data fit on the screen and display nicely.

I've managed to get the copy bit working using the formula ='[TODAY (2) (002).xlsx]Today'!A3&"" so that transfer the data over and hides all the 0, i added a filter, but the filter doesn't refresh when i add information into the Today sheet and i have to manually refresh the filter. as it's going to be on a rolling display i was hoping a macro or something easyish could be done to make it hide the rows on the display sheet if there's no text in column A.

I have absolutely no knowledge of VBA and I've tried copying code from other sites to put into VBA but it never works, so i have no idea what to do!

No VBA knowledge, that means you'll need some one to develop (write) it for you.
There are loads of code snippets, but a basic VBA knowledge would be something you should focus on.
Of course that quite a lot can write the code for you but the moment things need to be changed then you run into dependency of others, not really a problem but you don't have the control over it.
Let me think it over but there will have to be more information for a clear understanding of how the data looks like etc..

And your file contains external links to the file TODAY (2) (002).xlsx
so make sure when you attach a file it works
