    Excel Formula - Date Ranges

    Good Morning,

    ExcelFormula.PNG

    I've been trying to play around with date ranges for Columns O and N, I would like to create some sort of function/formula where the dates that are inserted under Column O cannot exceed the Due Date Range under Column N ; but I have been unable to find out the best solution

    Could you kindly provide some assistance ?

    Thank you!

    Re: Excel Formula - Date Ranges

    Will you please attach a small sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    Instructions (Please Read Carefully):

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

    Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment (it hasn't worked for years, and despite our repeatedly asking the technical team who own the forum to fix it, they can't be bothered to do so), so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Re: Excel Formula - Date Ranges

    I've attached the file with the mock-up results included. as can be seen, the date range under Column O is never exceeding the Due Date which is under column N. The Dates under Column O are inserted manually ,as these are the dates when we are sending a "Complaint Response", however my team make several mistakes sometimes including the incorrect date, so if I can insert a formula/function that would trigger an error each time this date range is exceeded it would be helpful!

    Thanks a lot!

    Data validation is to be done.

    Select O2:O48
    Data --> Data validation --> Settings
    Allow --> select --> Date
    Data --> select --> Less than or equal to
    End Date -->enter --> =$N2
    OK
    Pl note
    Array formula should be confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter keys together.
    If answere is satisfactory press * to add reputation.

    Re: Excel Formula - Date Ranges

    Hello,

    Just to clarify, will 'End Date -->enter --> =$N2 'work for each date inserted under Column O, so if the date exceeds the date in the adjacent Column N, this will trigger a warning?
