Question Checkbox dont follow with the A-Z sorting

(im pretty new to excel, and i use excel 2013)

im trying to create a list where i can check off when a task is completet.
I have added a sorting menu, but when i click it to sort A-Z the check boxes dont follow their rows. It more looks like they jump randomly

I have looked all over the web, and i havent found a solution.
I have attached images of what i experience + the excel doc

    Can someone help me please

Re: Checkbox dont follow with the A-Z sorting

    Hi there,

When you perform the Sort operation, have you included Column J (the hidden column) in the range of cells to be sorted? The cells in Column J are linked to the CheckBoxes in Column B.

Hope this helps - please let me know how you get on.

    Regards,

    Greg M

    Hi Greg,

    thank you for your reply.
the J column should be included. When i press Advances filter the list range is "$A$64:$J$110" wich i assume includes J?
(its my first excel doc, so i might be doing something wrong that should be obvious)

Re: Checkbox dont follow with the A-Z sorting

    Hi again,

    Thanks for your feedback.

Your first post mentions "Sort A-Z" but your second post mentions "Advanced Filter". There's a significant difference between a Sort operation and a Filter operation.

Do you want to sort the two blocks of data so that (e.g.) all of the "Done" items appear at the bottom of each block?

    Regards,

    Greg M

    arh, ok.

The idea is that i would like to be able to check off items in the To Do box so the row turns green, and then be able to sort the tasks after
    "Hvornår/ Område = When/ Subject"
    and by "Ansvarlig = Responsible"

So that during the period im running the project i can see who needs to finish their task, and when everything in regards of the tradeshow booth is in order, and so on.

This is a template document i want to use for all the event projects i run.

The problem is that the Linked cell does not change when the data is sorted.
Select all the checkboxes & change the Property to "Dont move or size with the cells"

Re: Checkbox dont follow with the A-Z sorting

    Hi again,

Ok, to sort the first block of your data you should do the following:

    Select rows 3:20

Click on Data >> Sort on the Ribbon

Tick the "My data has headers" CheckBox on the "Sort" DialogBox

Select "Hvornar/ Omrade" from the "Sort by" dropdown list

    Click on "Add Level"

Select "Hvad" from the "Then by" dropdown list

    Click on "OK"

Hope this helps - please let me know how you get on.

    Regards,

    Greg M
