Project Start Date and Tasks Start/Finish Time

    Hi Everyone.

I am trying to solve task start and end dates and times based on the following criteria:
    - Day Start Time: 09:00
    - Day End Time: 17:00
    - Break Duration: 1 hour
    - Date of first task to be determined by a target completion date of all tasks. E.g. if all tasks should be completed by 16/12/2019 and there are 100 hours worth of work to do, what date would the first task need to start?
    - Start time of first task should be 09:00.
    - Tasks must only be done on weekdays.
    - Start Date of preceding tasks should link to the end date of the predecessor AND if the predecessor task completes within 1 hour of the end of the working day, the next task should start at 09:00 the next day.

Sample data of what I would expect:

Calc. Planned Start Calc. Planned End Hours
    08/11/2019 09:00 11/11/2019 16:00 14
    12/11/2019 09:00 12/11/2019 17:00 7
    13/11/2019 09:00 13/11/2019 15:00 5
    13/11/2019 15:00 13/11/2019 17:00 2
    14/11/2019 09:00 18/11/2019 10:00 15

    Any help is most appreciated.

You may want to take a look at this tutorial concerning Microsoft Project.

Re: Project Start Date and Tasks Start/Finish Time

I played around with this a little and came up with something that might be of use, although it is not in the format that you requested.
It requires a lot of formulas so I am going to ask forgiveness of the moderators for omitting them from the post.
Basic premise is that it estimates the date on which the project should be started, then uses a lot of helper columns to find the end date based on the estimate.
It then compares the estimated end date to the target end date and adjusts (row 6).
End times for the tasks are displayed in row 7.
Not at all perfect as it doesn't adhere to the request that if a project finishes past 16:00 the next task begin on the next workday. (see task 8)
Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks JeteMc for your quick reply and effort to help me solve this problem.

One of our developers was able to help in the meantime and between us we were able to make it work.

You're Welcome and thank you for the feedback. Please take a moment to mark the thread as 'Solved' using the thread tools menu above your first post. It may be of benefit for those who have similar requests in the future if you could post a desensitized version of the product you and the developer came up with. I hope that you have a blessed day.
