COUNTIF based on another cell single criteria

Hey there, I searched for this everywhere (apologizes if I failed to find it), but no luck.

I need a formula for to COUNTIF responses based on an area in another column.

Example:
Column A has responses "yes", "no", "maybe"
Column B has "East", "West"

So I need to count how many total responses of each answer there were for East and West.

If say, B1:50 = "East", COUNTIF "yes"
If say, B1:50 = "East", COUNTIF "no"
etc

Any thoughts?

Try the COUNTIFS instead of COUNTIF:
