Multiple formulas in one cell

I am looking to be able to have one cell called "Total Lbs" be able to give the total pounds of either the # of plates or the # of bars. The plate number and bar number will never be filled in with a number at the same time so that wont be an issue. I have attached a copy of the spreadsheet I am currently working on.

    Thanks!Plate Totals.docx

Re: Multiple formulas in one cell

This is an Excel forum, so there is not much point in attaching a Word document - attach a sample Excel workbook instead. Instructions on how to do this are given in the yellow banner at the top of the screen.

    Hope this helps.

Agree with Pete that we need an excel file, not a word doc.

That said, sounds like you need something like...
    =if(cell-for-plates="",formula-for-bars,formula-for-plates
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
    2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

Re: Multiple formulas in one cell

You can put this formula in J3:

    =IF(H3>0,H3*E3,IF(I3>0,I3*E3,0))

    then copy it into J8.

    Hope this helps.

    Glad to hear it.

If that takes care of your original question, please take a moment to select Thread Tools from the menu above and to the right of your first post in this thread, and mark the thread as SOLVED.

You might also like to know that you can directly thank those who have helped you by clicking on the small "star" icon located in the lower left corner of a post that you have found to be helpful (not just in this thread - for any post that has helped you). This also adds to the reputation of the poster (the small green bars in the poster's profile).
