Need Help Improving Excel Formula

Hello

I have spent a great amount of time reading and researching, but finally took the plunge and joined this morning.

The prepaid entry I book every month has a isblank and counta formula that numbers each one of the cells in number order, as long as the value is "not blank". (Formula Example: =IF(ISBLANK(AL13),"",COUNTA(AL$13:AL13))These numbers are tied to a Journal Entry Template that we book every month.

Currently I have to manually update the formula to reflect the next column (next month), for each entry.

Could someone help me come up with a solution so the formula does an hlookup based on the value in our posting date cell (JE!C3), to automatically find the right column?

I have attached a modified example of my spreadsheet.

Your thread title is VERY weak. It should resemble the terms you would use if you were searching Google for an answer. Your title would produce a squillion useless hits.

But. You are new here, so I WILL change your title for you, on this occasion, as soon as I understad what you want!!. However, if you continue to use weak titles, you can expect your thread to be LOCKED until YOU make the required changes.

Your explanation is cryptic. In simple terms. What do you expect to see? Where do you expect to see it? Amend your sheet with a few manually calculated results AND tell us where to look. there's a lot going on there!!
