Is there a faster way to copy & paste a cell or reference to a cell??

Hi peeps.

i have my works rota here and in the columns H1 to H11 I have my references which I copy/paste to amend the rota.

Is it possible to conditional format the cells to speed up the process so im not copy & pasting cells.

I'd like for example the tick symbol to be entered into a cell by simple pressing "t" or pressing "h" would paste the *HOL* cell?

How would I go about this please?

With font for entire sheet = Arial", use AUTOCORRECT:
1. check mark
Excel Options
*Advanced
**AutoCorrect Options
***Replace: /t
***With: Alt+0252
ok

2. star

Another option, rather than typing t, or h into the cell you use numbers, then you can use conditional formatting.
so if you type 1 you can format it use custom number format to display a ✓
2 to display ✱
