Red face Conditional Formula for Checklist

    Hi all,

I am currently trying to improve a spreadsheet so that when entering a set of initials into columns D-J after all have been filled it will highlight a list of names in column A green to indicate it has been completed. My current formula

    HTML Code:
    =$D3&$E3&$F3&$G3&$H3&$I3&$J3="YYYYYYY"
    applies to =$A$2:$A$26

This achieves the desired cells to be filled green but i would like to reference a table with a list of initials that could replace the Y value to make this formula true. I am relatively new to conditional formatting and explored some =COUNTIF formulas but would appreciate any help from the Gurus!

    Thank You,
    Cameron

    Re: Conditional Formula for Checklist

Hello and welcome to the forum.

See the yellow banner towards the top of the screen.

I recommend uploading a small representative sample of your data along with the desired results (which you can enter manually) based on that data.

To upload an Excel workbook, follow these steps:
    1) Click on "Go Advanced"
    2) Click on "Manage Attachments"
    3) Click on "Choose File"
    4) Choose your file and click on "Open"
    5) Click on "Upload"
    6) Click on "Close this window"

Rows 2-25 show what we have been using successfully. I have input some examples of initials we would want to use in row 26 as a sort of checklist so that when the entire row is filled it populates the user example column as green for that row to mark it as complete.

    Re: Conditional Formula for Checklist

So essentially, any non-blank value in D26:J26 should make the value in column A green?

If so, you can use this:

Highlight A2:A100 (or however far your data can go) > Conditional Formatting > New Rule
    =COUNTA(D2:J2)=7
Format: Fill green > OK > OK

Yes but I would like for it to work for each individual row. so B2:J2,B3:J3,B4:J4 etc would only highlight column A for that specific row.

    Re: Conditional Formula for Checklist

That's exactly what the solution in post #4 does. Try it out.

Note that I changed the formula from D26:J26 to D2:J2.
