Exclamation Copy formula pattern to other cells

    Hi,
I am looking to see if it is possible to for excel to pick up patterns in a formula to drag or paste. (Not the same formula, such as adding 1)
I have a grid 180 X 180 (180 possible number of times absent x 180 school days) we are trying to get the percentage of time not absent for a given day. We have to do it 1 day at a time per the way the state wants it. This would be a quick reference chart. Hopefully my picture attaches so you can see what I mean.
    Column C has these formulas:
    =(C2-B3)/C2
    =(C2-B4)/C2
    =(C2-B5)/C2

*Is it not possible to replicate this type of thing to continue down the column? or across a row? I've tried and it does not give me the correct results.....Hoping someone can help. It is too much to go and do through the whole sheet. We did also make a simple calculator to type in # of days/days of school and it auto figures the percent, BUT they want something like this chart day by day.

    Thanks in advance!

Re: Copy formula pattern to other cells

It looks like you need this formula in your starting cell (C3):

    =(C$2-$B3)/C$2

and then you will be able to copy this across and down as required. Note the positioning of the $ symbols, which means that part of the cell references will not change.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you so much! I think I was wording what I was looking for wrong when I was google searching. This seems to work, so I'm going to finish up the sheet.
Thanks for saving me a bunch of time!
