    SUMIF Formula Help

    Hi everyone,

    I need a little help with a SUMIF formula. I would like to create a formula that would add up numbers in 3 columns if the text in another column matches what is in my formula. I have tried =SUMIF(B:B,V4,H:J) where B is my range V4 is the text I am searching for, and columns H through J are my sum range. When I do this, I get a number but it is nowhere near the total I am expecting. I have uploaded an image to explain it more clearly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Tanks!

    Note it's good practice to avoid whole column references. With large data sets calculation may be extended depending on the complexity of formulae. Specify the specific ranges in question. Better still create a dynamic range name for your ranges so that yuo never need to worry about how large your data set gets, the range name will automatically expand to cover new records.

    Incidentally for future reference we always prefer you upload the workbook rather than a picture. Pictures are often too small to read easily - as here and in any case not many people are inclined to recreate your data in order to test a solution.

    Thank you for the reply. I tried the formula you mentioned and it gave me a #VALUE error. I have uploaded the file here. I would really appreciate any other suggestions you have. Thanks again!

    Re: SUMIF Formula Help

    Perhaps =SUMPRODUCT(($H$3:$J$100)*($B$3:$B$100=V4))
