Connecting two googlesheets like workbooks

Hi,

I have a googlesheet that is shared with all employees who enter their daily working in it. I have created a separate googlesheet which is not shared with employees.
What I want to do is to link it to the shared google sheet and create some reports using formulas as we do with desktop excel files.

Help would be greatly appreciated
