    Dynamic Drop-Down List

I have a workbook with several Table Headings (workbook is formatted as an excel table). the headings read as follows:

ORDER DATE ORDER NO. DESTINATION SUPERVISOR ITEM NO. QUANTITY SALES CODE REBATE CODE
data data data data data data data data
data data data data data data data data
data data data data data data data data
data data data data data data data data
data data data data data data data data

i want to create a dynamic drop down list, where the first list is a drop down of the header values, and the second list is restricted to the data values listed under the header that is selected. the tricky part (for me, anyway) is i need the first list to have alternating columns. The validation list should include Order No., Destination, Item No. & Sales Code, but I don't need the other columns (or data) to be available for either dropdown. I've tried an =INDEX formula, and an =AND formula in the data validation dialog box, but neither seem to work for alternating columns. Best i could come up with is a list that includes all columns, but i just don't need them all there. Is what I'm asking for possible?

Also, on the second (data) dropdown, i'd like to ignore duplicates if possible, because there are quite a few.

What are you using in the column_num argument of INDEX? You can probably reference that number with a variation of
    Formula: copy to clipboard

which yields an array of {1,3,5,7} or this copied across
    Formula: copy to clipboard

which yields the same but outputs at each column.
