    extracting volunteer names

    Hi All!

    I need a method to extract the names of volunteers based on multiple "X"s in a row to create the results in column "volunteers by date" like this:

    sample.jpg

    Sample workbook attached. Suggestions?

    Step 2 is to then email volunteers 2 days before their assigned date, which, for now, I do manually.

    If you have "textjoin",

    J3=TEXTJOIN(",",,IF(C3:H3<>"",C$1:H$1&" "&C$2:H$2,"")) Shift+Control+Enter

    ...and if you do have TEXTJOIN please update your Ms-Off Ver: in your details accordingly.

    Re: extracting volunteer names

    I do not have TEXTJOIN, however, I tried in google sheets, which others in our group use (and need this to also work on) and got:

    John Smith,,Anne Lee

    which I assume is giving a comma for the middle blank field but not the blanks after Anne Lee. Suggestions?
