Unhappy Split columns into new rows (not Transpose function)

    Hello all,

I'm handling a large quantity of data with names, titles and emails I have to upload into a CRM.
Problem is my sheets have multiple columns with contact infos (Names, Titles, email) for 10 sometimes 15 people in one row but different columns.

Our CRM system cannont accept such a input as one row is considered as a lead record.
That is, if I upload the data as is now, I will only able to get the first Names, Title and email columns.

I've actually been working on LibreOffice for this operation. LibreOffice does not seem to have any solution for this specific problem challange.

I'm now turning up here to know if Excel perhaps would have a concrete solution. Something which would allow to split the columns and add rows bellow to create new rows with those contacts.

I know there is a Transpose Function but that's not what I'm looking for because the Transpose is good to handle a small amount of data and easely put it vertically or horizontaly.

    Any concrete suggestions ?

Re: Split columns into new rows (not Transpose function)

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

Re: Split columns into new rows (not Transpose function)

    Hello Alan,

    Thank you for the response.
I understand you want to see the excel file.

I've created an XLSX file with two tabs.
A Original format tab. There you will see the data in columns AA, AB, AC, AD, AE etc how it is now. The columns I want to shift are in yellow.
In the Mockup, I've placed the data how I would like it to be as a finished result. Colums are in yellow.

I hope with this, my request is clear enough. Let me know if you have quesitons.

    Best

As written in my original post we are not on Excel.

"I've actually been working on LibreOffice for this operation."

Looking to know if Excel would have a solution for our problem.

    Thanks

Thank you. Why, then, did you post in the Excel section of the forum?

I am moving your thread to the correct section.

In that case, please clarify which version of Excel you would be using!

Thank you. That's a shame - you don't have PowerQuery in the Mac. Please add Mac to your forum profile.
